		The Consorzio Provinciale Trasporti
Pubblici (Provincial Consortium of Public Transport), a no-profit
government body, was established in 1977 pursuant to Royal Decree
No. 383 of 3.3.1934 and Royal Decree no. 2578 of 15.10.1925 to manage,
coordinate and control the suburban public transport in the province of
Como, previously run by private companies like SALVI S.p.A. and STECAV
		S.p.A..
The Consortium consisted of 162 bodies including Municipalities, of
which the Municipality of Como was one, the Provincial Administration of
Como and the Mountain Communities for a total population of over 544,000
		inhabitants represented by 239 delegates.
For managing the services, in 1978 the Consortium established a
special company, Azienda Consortile Pubblici Trasporti (A.C.P.T.)
(Public Transport Consortium Company) pursuant to Royal Decree no. 2578
of 15.10.1925, transferring the over 500 employees to the Consortium.
The A.C.P.T. carried out services for over eight million KM buses and
		used about two hundred buses.
In 1982 the Consortium, along with the Municipality of Brunate,
established Gestione Servizi Trasporti s.r.l. (G.S.T.), with capital
stock 95% owned by the Consortium, to operate the Como – Brunate
funicular railway, which had been run by a private company until then,
to run the hire service, car parks and in general all the services,
		studies and projects regarding mobility.
In 1982, executing Regional Law 10/77, the Consortium was also
attributed the functions of Consorzio di Bacino n. 3 – Como, later
transferred to the Provincial Administration of Como in 1987 following
		Regional Law no. 14 – 2.4.87.
In 1984 – 1985, following the establishment of Consorzio di
Bacino n. 4, under the responsibility of the Comprensorio Lecchese, the
consortia bodies belonging to the Lecchese territory withdrew from the
		Consorzio Provinciale Trasporti Pubblici.
Subsequently, following regional provisions, the Mountain Communities
belonging to the territories of Como were also obliged to withdraw from
the Consortium; in both cases the relevant equity liquidation was
		performed.
In 1989 S.P.T. S.p.A. was established with shareholders Consorzio
Provinciale Trasporti Pubblici, Provincial Administration of Como and
Municipality of Como, with the intent of having operation of all the
urban and suburban and funicular transport services carried out by a
		single juridical subject.
S.P.T. S.p.A. started operating in 1991, with the withdrawal from
C.P.T.P. of the Provincial Administration and of the Municipality of
Como and with the transfer to S.P.T. S.p.A., by C.P.T.P. and by the
Municipality of Como, of respectively the suburban and urban bus line
concessions, of the personnel and the tangible and intangible assets
connected to these concessions (value of the assets conferred by
		C.P.T.P. = over 15 billion ITL).
The Consortium, awaiting completion of the commitments assumed by the
shareholders of S.P.T. S.p.A., transfer of the concession of the
funicular railway and dissolution of the Consortium, had to carry out
its own transformation, firstly, from 1.7.96, into Consorzio Pubblici
Trasporti (Consortium of public transport), economic government body
pursuant to Law no. 142 of 8.6.1990 and then from 1.1.2001 into a joint
stock company pursuant to decree law no. 267 of 18.8.2000.
With the transformation into a joint stock company, the Shareholders
Meeting consisting of 115 Municipalities of the Province of Como also
determined the acquisition of the funicular railway service, until
31.12.2000 managed by the subsidiary G.S.T. s.r.l. which, also by
meeting decision, had to be dissolved or incorporated into C.P.T. S.p.A.,
because it was now without the main function for which it had been
		established.
In 2005 C.P.T. s.p.a. bought out the 5% shareholding from the
		Municipality of Brunate.
In 2006 Consorzio Pubblici Trasporti s.p.a. performed the merger
through acquisition of G.S.T. s.r.l. into Consorzio Pubblici Trasporti.
